jp Lightning Knights

Lightning KnightsA new exA-Arcadia title is being released as game centers are slowly re-opening in Japan (with social distancing measures). The game in question is Lightning Knights. It's dungeon crawling game developed by Confused Pelican Games and Tikipod. It's also the first 4-player cooperative exA game (2-player games are supported as well). Only one set of the game is needed to offer this experience across two 2-player cabinets, all you need to do is chain link 2 JVS I/O boards using an USB cable and use a DVI-splitter for video. The goal of this game is to save the princess, but on your way to her, you'll have to confront hordes of monsters and big bosses, eat food dropped by enemies, use magic scrolls, find new weapons and collect coins to buy useful items at the cat's shop. The rooms are shifted around on each new play meaning that every game is different. Originally, this game was released on PC as "Iron Crypticle" but beside new characters, this refined arcade version also ditches the "twin stick" gameplay of the original for a simpler 8-way joystick and 3 buttons control method. Buttons are Attack, Atomic Fist (a powerful attack) and Dash. You have to keep the attack button to strafe (this replaces the need for a shooting stick). The arcade version has added voices and in-game text can be displayed in English, French, Spanish and Japanese languages. Check the trailer to see what the game looks like. Looks like fun, isn't it? All copies come with English and Japanese instruction strips and an A1-sized poster (as all exA-Arcadia games). Lightning Knights is available from the exA website and from the usual distributors (Red Sun Systems in Europe).

jp Pre-orders for Chaos Code -Exact Xeno Attack- are open

Pre-orders for Chaos Code -Exact Xeno Attack- are openPre-orders for Chaos Code -Exact Xeno Attack- on exA-Arcadia are open. Chaos Code -Exact Xeno Attack- is the third iteration and the ultimate version of Chaos Code. It's also the first arcade version to be officially released in the West. Created by Mickey and Michael Lin, Chaos Code was released in August 2011 on Sega RingWide after 4 years of development. Some of you may remember Arcade Belgium's Chaos Code tournament held at Made in Asia 6 in Brussels. An updated version called Chaos Code - New Sign of Catastrophe was released in June 2013 on NESiCAxLive (Type X²). This version featured 16:9 support, rebalanced the characters and added one new fighter: ┬áKudlak Sin. In November 2014, version 2.0 added 2 characters: Ray and Lupinus.
At Toushinsai 2016, F K Digital unveiled a trailer of Chaos Code NEXT, which was to be the complete version of Chaos Code as envisioned by its creators. Unfortunately, Michael, who was the main director and the main force of Chaos Code development team, died of illness on December 25th, 2017. Mickey decided to continue the development of the game in memory of his brother and another trailer was shown at JAEPO 2020. Despite this, Mickey realized that he didn't have enough mental strength to continue the job. So it's with a heavy heart that he announced on February 10th, 2020 that F K Digital would cease the development of all new titles including Chaos Code NEXT after March 31st, 2020.
Fortunately, at that time, the development of Chaos Code -Exact Xeno Attack- was already completed and the game was in testing phase. Chaos Code EXA includes all 16 characters from New Sign of Catastrophe and offers a choice of 16 different costumes for each character. It also has less input lag than the NESiCAxLive version and supports higher resolutions. The game can be set to English, Traditional Chinese and Korean languages. This is the definitive version of the game as you can see in the trailer. Chaos Code -Exact Xeno Attack- is dedicated to the memory of Michael Lin and is scheduled to ship this month.
Pre-order from the exA webshop (shipping from Japan) or from distributors like Red Sun Systems (shipping from Belgium).

fi Version 4.0 of the Universe BIOS is now free

Version 4.0 of the Universe BIOS is now freeVersion 4.0 of the Universe BIOS for NEOGEO MVS and AES systems was released 2 years ago. If we talk about it again today, it's because Razoola decided to make it available for free (for personal use). Previously, only older versions were available free of charge, the latest revision having to be bought from Razoola. However, he stopped selling the BIOS last year and decided to make the latest version available for everybody from today. We won't list the changes in this version as it was covered in the news published at the time of its release. For those who don't know; the Universe BIOS was created by Finnish coder Razoola in 2002 to expand the abilities of the NEOGEO MVS system, allowing the owner to easily change the BIOS region, switch between arcade and console mode, listen to the game music via a jukebox feature and use built-in cheats. You may get the BIOS image from the official download page, you'll need a M27C1024 DIP40 EPROM to burn it. If you don't own an EPROM programmer, you'll find a list of people authorized to provide you the Universe BIOS on EPROM on the download page. Thanks Razoola!
